The Ministry of Finance is pleased to release its report on the Government’s fiscal operations for the month of June 2026, as mandated by the Public Finance Management Act, 2023.
During the review month, total revenue collections increased by $467.0 million (150.7 percent) year-over-year to $777.1 million in June 2026. Tax revenue improved by $307.2 million (116.7 percent), supported by a $135.2 million (119.6 percent) boost in value added tax collections, which included payments of outstanding arrears. Among other contributors, higher stamp duty payments associated with the sale of shares boosted taxes on financial and capital transactions by $35.3 million. Revenue from the Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax, totaled $68.6 million; and taxes on trade transactions improved by $44.4 million on account of higher departure tax and excise duty receipts. Non-tax revenue increased sharply by $159.8 million, driven by higher dividend receipts, a portion of which was applied against the Government’s payment arrears.
Recurrent expenditure expanded by $279.0 million (103.8 percent) to $547.6 million, led by higher outlays for the use of goods and services ($193.3 million) and subsidies ($38.7 million). Capital spending rose sharply by $82.7 million to $98.7 million, the bulk of which was used for the acquisition of non-financial assets—mainly covering road repairs, building maintenance and airport infrastructure.
As a result of these developments, the Government recorded an estimated fiscal surplus of $130.7 million in June 2026, compared with a surplus of approximately $25.4 million in June 2025. During the month, the Government borrowed $120.5 million against repayment of $95.3 million, for a net increase in the outstanding debt of $25.2 million.
